Nonlinear Crystals

  • Beta-Barium Borate (β-BaB2O4,BBO) or BBO crystal is an excellent non-linear crystal for frequency-conversion (SHG,THG, 4HG and 5HG) of Visible and Near IR laser light, OPO/OPG/OPA pumped by ultrafast pulses of wavelengths in the Near IR to UV, and sum-frequency mixing (SFM) into the Visible to the deep UV. BBO crystals is also used in the EO Q-switches for its high electro-optical coefficients. BBO is one of the few practical crystal for use below 500 nm in SHG and SFM. Hangzhou Shalom EO offers the custom BBO crystals upon customer's request, and there is also some types of standard BBO crystals in stock for your selection.
  • Potassium Titanyl Phosphate (KTiOPO3 or KTP) is an excellent optical crystals suitable for use in many optical systems. It has high nonlinear coefficient and stable physical property. Its most popular application is as a frequency doubler of 1064nm to generate 532nm laser.KTP's properties also make it superior for electro-optic modulation (EO components), optical parametric generation (OPO or OPA components). KTP crystals are widely used in commercial and military lasers including laboratory and medical systems, range-finders, lidar, and industrial systems.
  • Gray track damage is a serious damage for KTP crystals, the conventional flux-grown KTP crystal is is susceptible to the gray track damage, the hydrothermal-grown KTP has high damage threshold and high ability to anti gray track.   • Potassium Dideuterium Phosphate (DKDP or KD*P ) are among the most widely-used commercial NLO's crystals, characterized by good UV transmission, high damage threshold, and high birefringence, though their NLO coefficients are relatively low. They are usually used for doubling (SHG), tripling (THG) and quadrupling (FHG) of a Nd:YAG laser at the room temperature. In addition, they are also excellent electro-optic crystals with high electro-optic coefficients, makes it be widely used as electro-optical modulators, such as EO Q-switches, EO Pockels Cells, etc.
  • Lithium Tri-borate or LBO crystals (LiB3O5) is one of the most useful nonlinear optical material not just for its relatively large conversion coefficient - 3x that of KDP, but also for its excellent physical properties. LBO crystal has broad optical transparency range from 160 to 2600nm. LBO is widely used for SHG and THG of Nd:YAG, Nd:YLF, Nd:YVO4 and ultra-fast Ti:sapphire lasers. OPOs(Optical Parametric Oscillators) and OPAs(Optical Parametric Amplifier).
  • BIBO( BiB3O6) is a newly developed nonlinear Optical Crystal. It possesses large effective nonlinear coefficient, high damage threshold and inertness with respect to moisture. Its nonlinear coefficient is 3.5-4 times higher than that of LBO,1.5-2 times higher than that of BBO. It is a promising doubling crystal to produce blue laser. The top-seeded solution growth (TSSG) technique is used for the growth of BIBO single crystals.
  • Zinc germanium phosphide (ZnGeP2) is an excellent mid-IR nonlinear crystal with many outstanding fundamental properties. ZnGeP2 (ZGP) crystal has large nonlinear susceptibility (d36~75 pm/V), which is approximately 160 times that of KDP. ZGP exhibits good optical transparency over the 0.74–12 um wavelength region and relatively high laser damage threshold, and is therefore well suited for producing tunable laser output in the near infrared. ZGP is a very promising material for applications such as SHG, SFG, OPO, and OPG/OPA in the mid-infrared region.
  • LiNbO3 Crystal is widely used as frequency doublers for wavelength > 1µm and optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) pumped at 1064 nm as well as quasi-phase-matched (QPM) devices. Compared with pure LiNbO3, MgO:LN has higher optical damage threshold.Due to its large Electro-Optic (E-O) and Acousto-Optic (A-O) coefficients, LiNbO3 crystal is the most commonly used material for Pockel Cells, Q-switches and phase modulators, waveguide substrate, and surface acoustic wave (SAW) wafers, etc. Hangzhou Shalom EO provides the MgO(0.6~1.0mol%):LiNbO3 and MgO(5mol%):LiNbO3 crystals, the custom crystals of blanks, polished and coated and electroded is available upon your request.
  • Yttrium calcium oxy borate (YCa4O(BO3)3,YCOB crystal) crystal was good materials for nonlinear optical and high temperature piezoelectric applications.
