Beamsplitter Cubes

A Beamsplitter Cube is a cubic optical component consisting of two right-angle prisms.  There are two categories of beamsplitter cubes if we separate them in terms of sensitivities to polarization: one is a Polarizing Beamsplitter Cube or PBS cube, and another is a Non-Polarizing Beamsplitter Cube

Beamsplitter cubes are often used to separate a light beam into two, or the cubes can also be used in reverse, to combine two beams into one. Beamsplitter cubes have extensive applications in a lot of fields, including laser, semiconductor, and photonics instrumentation. The dielectric beamsplitter coating at the interface of the polarizing beamsplitter cube splits an unpolarized light into two orthogonal polarizations: the s component and the p component and blocks the s component while allowing the p component to proceed, thus attaining the desirable, pure polarized light. A nonpolarizing beam splitter cube functions using the hybrid metallic-dielectric coating furnished at the hypotenuse of one of the prisms, which filters light according to a certain proportion without changing the initial polarization state of the light source.

Speaking in comparison, polarizing beamsplitters work better for high-power lasers because their coatings contain no metal, whilst nonpolarizing beamsplitters are more recommended for low to medium-power scales since the metallic-dielectric coatings cause the damage threshold to decline concerning polarizing beamsplitter cube.

Hangzhou Shalom EO's Beamsplitter Cubes are available in cemented or optical-contacted structures. The optical contacted structure is preferred for usages requiring higher LIDTs (Laser-Induced Damage Thresholds) since it is adhesive-free and exhibits lower scattering loss attributed to the ultra-smooth interfaces. If the constituent prisms of the beamsplitter cubes are cemented together, the user should be cautious that the light should be projected towards the prism coated with the beamsplitter coating to avoid causing injuries to the cement. However, even if the aforesaid situation is avoided, the cemented beamsplitter cube will still have a lower damage threshold than the optical-contacted PBS since adhesives often exhibit low thermal endurance.

Hangzhou Shalom EO offers Stocked and Custom Beamsplitter Cubes, including High Power Polarizing Beamsplitter Cubes, Polarizing Beamsplitter Cubes, and Non-Polarizing Beamsplitter Cubes. Various Broadband and laser-line options spanning the spectral range from UV, VIS, to IR, are available either as standard versions that could be ordered online or as custom versions that could be specified upon request. Shalom EO is a proficient supplier and manufacturer of optics and laser components, with superb production craft, we are capable of delivering Beamsplitter with an extinction ratio of a tremendous range between 300:1 to 10000:1. Besides, we are also confident about our flexible and cutting-edge workshop to provide both standard PBS cube and high precision laser-grade polarizing beamsplitter cube.
