Single calcite crystals is a negative uniaxial crystals which has a high birefringence (double refraction), it has a wide transmission spectral range from 200nm to 2500nm. Although is a fairly soft crystal and is easily scratched, it is still an ideal material for manufacturing polarizing prisms, beam divergent elements, laser gates and other optical devices.  

Hangzhou Shalom EO provide the prisms and polarizer made from calcite crystals: Glan Thompson Prisms, and Glan Taylor Prisms and Glan Laser Prisms, it is also used to make the Group Velocity Delay Compensators in femtosecond lasers.
