Yttrium Calcium Oxoborate (YCa4O(BO3)3,YCOB) Crystal is an excellent media for nonlinear optical and high-temperature piezoelectric usages. As a novel NLO crystal material, YCOB exhibits great thermal, mechanical, and nonlinear optical properties. It is regarded as an important candidate for frequency shifting of high-average power lasers. Its nonlinear optical coefficient is equivalent to that of BBO crystal and LBO crystal. Its strengths include a sizable aperture, high damage threshold in the femtosecond regime (around 2000-2500 GW/cm2), a wide acceptance angle small dispersion angle. Besides these attributes, YCOB boasts stable thermal and chemical properties with thermal expansion much less significant than that of LBO, non-deliquescent characteristics, and excellent machining properties. The crystals are accessible in large dimensions and hence could be utilized to manufacture large aperture laser components and achieve various parametric nonlinear processing (e.g. Second Harmonic Generation, Third Harmonic Generation, OPO/OPA, Optical Parametric Chirped-Pulse Amplification (OPCPA)) for high power lasers. YCOB crystals are deemed to hold promising prospects for applications in blue-green light and UV band optical frequency multiplication.
Hangzhou Shalom EO offers YCOB Crystals with a maximum diameter of 100mm. The YCOB crystals are Czochralski-grown, contributing to a faster growth rate and lower costs. Custom specifications of the YCOB crystals are available upon request.
