Nonlinear Crystals

A Nonlinear Crystal or NLO Crystal is an optical crystal that exhibits a strong nonlinear dielectric response function to optical radiation. Nonlinear crystals are important components in the fields of photonics and lasers. One of the major applications of NLO crystals is Nonlinear Optical Conversion of Frequencies, where laser wavelengths that are inaccessible (e.g. 2-7 micro wavelengths) without deliberate interventions are generated by altering the frequencies (hence the wavelength) of the output light. And some of them could also be utilized as EO/AO Modulation crystals.

Nonlinear crystals stand as the cornerstone of cutting-edge photonics and laser technologies, driving innovations across various scientific and industrial domains. Their inherent ability to manipulate light waves enables a vast range of applications. Moreover, their adaptability to different phase-matching methodologies broadens the scope of their usages, enabling precise control over optical frequencies. From harmonic generation to parametric amplification, nonlinear crystals are critical in diverse processes like second, third fourth, and even fifth harmonic generation, as well as sum and difference frequency generation. In addition, the crystals are indispensable in enabling critical functionalities like electro-optic and acousto-optic modulation, essential for signal processing and communications, further underlining their indispensable role in modern optics.

Hangzhou Shalom EO offers various off-the-shelf and custom nonlinear crystals with versatile functions, including Beta Barium Borate (Beta BBO) Crystals, Ultra-thin Beta BBO for Femtoline Lasers, Potassium Dideuterium Phosphate (KDP/DKDP) Crystals, Lithium Triborate (LBO) Crystals, Potassium Titanyl Phosphate (KTP/HGTR KTP) Crystals, Potassium Titanyle Arsenate (KTA) Crystals, Bismuth Borate (BIBO) Crystals, Lithium Iodate (LiIO3) Crystals, LiNbO3 (Lithium Niobate)/MgO: LiNbO3 Crystals, RTP Crystals, and ZnGeP2 (ZGP) Crystals. Miscellaneous coating options including uncoated, AR, HR, HT, PR coatings, and custom coatings are available. All the crystals will undergo rigorous inspection before dispatch.

The nonlinear crystals we manufactured feature laser-grade polished with high geometric precision/flexible coating options, and a wide transmission range covering Ultra Violet to Infrared wavelength region, with the additional advantages of large nonlinearities, high damage thresholds, and large-dimension capabilities. Our crystals are compliant with various phase-matching techniques (e,g. critical/non-critical phase matching), and capable of coping with a broad assortment of frequency conversion purposes, encompassing: Second Harmonic Generation/Doubling Frequencies(SHG), Third Harmonic Generation (THG), Fourth Harmonic Generation (4HG), and Fifth Harmonic Generation (5HG), SFG/DFG, Optical Parametric Oscillation (OPO), and Optical Parametric Amplification (OPA) for laser output generation. In addition, the crystals are also prominent for EO and AO Modulations and spontaneous Parametric Down Conversion (SPDC).
