Longpass (LP) Filters
Long pass Filter, often referred to as IR long pass filter or long pass optical filter, is an optical device designed to selectively transmit light with longer wavelengths while blocking or attenuating shorter wavelengths. These filters are widely used in various optical applications, such as photography, spectroscopy, microscopy, and sensor technology.
The primary function of a long-pass filter is to allow light beyond a specific wavelength, known as the "cutoff wavelength," to pass through while obstructing shorter wavelengths. For example, an IR long-pass filter permits infrared light to pass while blocking visible and ultraviolet light. This is achieved through specialized coatings or materials that are capable of this wavelength discrimination.
Long pass filters provide valuable control over the light spectrum, enhancing image quality and facilitating various optical processes. Their adaptability and utility make them essential components in a wide range of optical systems.
