Intense pulsed light (IPL) devices are high-intensity light sources, which use a halogen flash lamp to produce a broad spectral non-coherent light in the 400nm to 1200nm range. The output light is then directed to a hand piece, and releases the energy pulse onto the surface of the skin via a sapphire light guide or quartz light guide or BK7 light guide. Light guide or filter is the critical optical components for IPL devices, it blocks the UV light spectrum which is harmful to body and transmit the useful spectral wavelength. IPL has been a popular cosmetic device for hair removal, tattoo removal, photo rejuvenation, vascular and acne treatment.
