Biconvex lens is a simple lens which comprises of two convex surfaces in spherical form, generally having the same kinds of radii of curvature. And they are recommended for virtual imaging of real objects, also for positive conjugate ratios from 0.2 up to 5 in comparison with plano-convex lenses. Due to the equal radii of both sides, biconvex lenses have shorter focal lengths.
Biconvex lenses have a broad range of applications including focusing and controlling of laser beams, moderate quality imaging and other optical instruments.
