A Right Angle Prism is a bulk optical component in the shape of a right-angle triangle. Right-angle prisms are utilized to bend the light path, (i.e. redirect light at 90° or 180°). All the faces, including the orthogonal legs and the hypotenuse face, could accomplish light deviation using total internal reflection (TIR). If the light is incident on the perpendicular side of the right angle prism, it undergoes a 90°redirection, becoming a great element in periscopes or telescopes. If the light is incident on the hypotenuse side of the right angle prism, it will undergo a 180° redirection and could be leveraged as a non-reversing mirror.
