Scintillators
A scintillator detector consists of a crystal or other phosphor coupled with its mount to a photomultiplier tube (PMT) with a silicone oil light-couple. The scintillation crystals is excited to luminescence by absorbed photons or particles, the light pulse generated are collected, multiplied and converted to electric pulses by PMT. Besides the scintillators and PMT, a complete scintillation detector assemblies also includes Voltage Divider (VD), Preamplifier, High Voltage Module (HV) and connector electronics. Scintillation detector are often used to detect the X-ray and γ-ray, they are widely used in medical diagnostics, high energy physics and geophysical exploration.
