CsI(Tl) Scintillator Crystals |
Thallium-activated Cesium Iodide or CsI(Tl) crystals are among the brightest scintillator materials. Its emission peak sits at 550nm within the broad emission spectrum of 350-700nm, which nicely matches with photodiode readout components. Of the essential part, it generates a light yield four times higher than that of BGO, exhibiting an unrivaled brightness of 54 photons/Kev. CsI(Tl) is well suited for detecting particles that pack massive charges because its decay time is variant to the ionization capacity of a particle. It is possible to shrink the dimension of the detector without a high-voltage power source and implement a magnetic field when a scintillator-photodiode pair is allowed. Furthermore, CsI (Tl) has a larger cross-section of the gamma-radiation photoabsorption.
It is robust and has excellent mechanical properties because it has no cleavage plane, contributing to its reliable strength under various conditions. CsI(Tl) can be utilized in medical applications such as jaw and head scanning, security X-radiation inspection, well-logging, space research, etc. CsI (Tl) is also immune to thermal and mechanical shock. However, it is worth noting that CsI(Tl) is a slow scintillator, which limits its counting rate.
Hangzhou Shalom EO offers the CsI(Tl) blanks, polished crystals, encapsulated scintillators, and CsI(Tl) arrays, CsI(Tl) array +PD assemblies, and 2-dimensional arrays upon customer's request.
