Molybdenum ("Moly") Mirrors are the toughest, most durable, longest-lasting laser mirrors currently available. Molybdenum has the lowest thermal expansion among all commercial metal materials and therefore mirrors made of Molybdenum can withstand extreme temperatures with low susceptibility to deformation or softening. For infrared applications, the Molybdenum mirror has a high natural reflectance (around 98%) over a broad spectrum.

Shalom EO offers standard and custom Molybdenum Mirrors. Our mirrors are optimized for CO2 lasers (e.g. used as the ear and output coupler mirrors create a resonant cavity where the laser gain medium (CO2 gas) resides), facilitating the formation and amplification of the laser beam.

Molybdenum mirrors need no coating due to their inherently high reflection in the IR spectrum, Shalom EO's state-of-the-art mirror fabrication technique endowed the uncoated polished substrates with excellent robustness and quality, which translate to boast prominent thermal, and mechanical properties, and high chemical inertia, ensuring stable operations in high-power and high-temperature situations and in conditions where weld spatter, fumes, smoke, and process debris prevail. In terms of optical performance, Our Mo mirrors also stand out with their high IR reflectance (>98%@10.6μm), low absorption, and scattering losses. The mirrors are extraordinarily scratch-resistant and can be scrubbed with brushes scrubbed with brushes, soaked in organic solvents or detergents in repetition.
