Thallium Doped Sodium Iodide (NaI(Tl) Scintillation Crystals are one of the most prevalent scintillator materials featuring impressive high scintillation or luminescence efficiencies, NaI(Tl) scintillators have the largest light output and an emission spectrum well matched with the photocathodes of photomultipliers. Its absorption peaks at 3 micro and 2.3 micro in approximate, whilst its highest emission intensity locates at around 4.1 micro, which means most of its emitted light could be transferred across itself with little loss, contributing to high light yields.
